The NWGA welcomes the resumption of the export of qualifing greasy wool to China.

Important to note that any wool that was in store on or before 2 April 2019, which would have been sold in Catalogue 30, is cleared for export . Any wool after this date and therefore sold in Catalogues 31/32/33/34 is still not cleared for export as it has not passed the 120 days at or above 4C in storage.

The latest communication on the 23rd of August reflected a confirmation from DAFF that it is in the best interest of the wool industry to continue export certification in terms of the current health certificate requirements.  SAWAMBA, in consultation with brokers agreed to resume the scheduled auctions on 3 & 4 September.

Cape Wools SA, on behalf of the Wool Industry, thanked everyone for their understanding during the challenging time and are confident that the market flow could revert to normal by October 2019, taking into account the progress made on heating the stores by the brokers.
